GAIDUKEVICH SERGEI VASILIEVICH

 (BIOGRAPHIC INFORMATION)

Gaidukevich Sergei Vasilievich was born on September 8, 1954 in the City of Minsk into the family of military man. After graduation from the secondary school he entered Minsk Higher Engineer Guided Zenith-missile College of Air Defence Forces, from which he graduated in the year 1976. In the year 1989 he graduated from military command Air Defence Academy named after Marshal G.К.Zhukov.

From 1976 up to 1991 he did his command military service in Armed Forces of the USSR. He did his international duty. Has military government decorations - Senior reserve officer.

In the year 1992 Gaidukevich S.V. managed to unite 28 political parties and public movements into political block «Folk movement of Belarus» unprecedented by power and influence and became Chairman of its Coordinating Board.

Within the period of 1992 up to 1994 worked at the Administration of National Security of the State Secretariat of the Republic of Belarus. Then as the Chairman of the Board on Social protection of military men, rank and senior officers of the law enforcement agencies, international soldiers, transferred to the reserve (retirement) and their family members by the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus.

At the end of 1994 Gaidukevich S.V. leaves the post of the Chairman of the FMB Coordinating Board, after which the block stops to exist. Sergei Vasilievich Gaidukevich has been the member of the Liberal-Democratic party since the year 1994.

In the year 1995 at special 4th convention of LDP, created under the initiative of the majority of the Heads of regional and city organizations of the party, which stand at the position of the provision of independence of the Republic of Belarus, S.V. Gaidukevich was chosen Chairman of the Liberal-Democratic party and Chairman of Supreme Board of LDP. Since that time LDP had become an independent party of the sovereign state – Republic of Belarus with its own Charter and Program. Under his guidance the party became the most numerous and influential political force in the Republic of Belarus.

According to the estimations of native and foreign analysts Gaidukevich S.V. created a party which has been the most influential due to its structuredness in Belarus since the departure of CPSU from the political arena. Sergei Gaidukevich is by right considered to be one of the leading and competent political leaders of the country. He is distinguished from other politicians by high intellect, sociability, ability to feel the environment delicately and influence it, readiness and ability to cooperate with the representatives of other parties and public movements in the interests of the sovereign Belarus, ability to unite and lead the associates.

The year 1998 – the year of international recognition of the Liberal-Democratic party and its leader – Sergei Vasilievich Gaidukevich. More and more often he becomes the participant and noticeable figure at the international conferences, diplomatic receptions. A significant event of this period is the participation of Gaidukevich in the work of Istanbul summit of OSCE in November 1999.

In March 1999 the 6th convention of LDP unanimously nominated Sergei Vasilievich Gaidukevich for the participation in Presidential elections in the year 2001.
In November 2000 under the initiative of regional members of social and political movements and organizations of the Republic of Belarus which include the representatives of practically all social levels of the country was created the organizational Board of the social and political block «Novaya Rus’ – Unity», which proclaimed S.V. Gaidukevich its leader and the single Candidate for the post of the President of the Republic of Belarus.

August 14, 2001 Central Committee of the Republic of Belarus on elections and the holding of republican referenda officially registered Gaidukevich Sergei Vasilievich as the candidate for the post of the President of the Republic of Belarus.

In November 2001 the Liberal-Democratic party presented documents for the entry into the Liberal International – one of the leading political organizations in the world. On March 20-23, 2002 S.V. Gaidukevich took part in the Congress of Liberal International in Budapest; on the 6-10th of July, in 2002 he was invited by the Governing bodies of the Parliamentary Assembly of OSCE for the participation in the work of Berlin session of PA of OSCE on Belarusian question.

In October 2004 Liberal-Democratic party took active participation in the preparation and holding of elections to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, having nominated its candidates to all 110 election districts at the whole territory of the country.

According to the results of elections in Oktyabrskiy election district № 99 (City of Minsk) the Chairman of the Liberal-Democratic party Gaidukevich Sergei Vasilievich already in the second tour became the Deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus. At present S.V. Gaidukevich is the member of the Permanent Board of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on international affairs and contacts with CIS.

At the end of the year 2004 under the initiative of the members of regional organizations of the Officers Union, Association of soldiers-internationalists, veteran and female organizations as well as representatives of creative intelligence, public- remedial structures of the country there was created the organizational board of public-patriotic block «Novaya Belarus - Unity», which considers S.V. Gaidukevich its leader of national scale and real candidate for the post of the President of the Republic of Belarus.

On the 21st of August, 2004 at the X convention of the party Sergei Vasilievich Gaidukevich – Chairman of the Liberal-Democratic party, Chairman of the Supreme Board of LDP was recommended to nominate for the post of the President of the Republic of Belarus for the period of President elections in the year 2006.

On the 17th of February, 2006 the Central Board of the Republic of Belarus on elections and holding of republican referenda officially registered Sergei Gaidukevich as the candidate for President of the Republic of Belarus.
It is notable that within 2 weeks Gaidukevich gained 150000 electoral signatures (for the registration it is required to collect 100000 signatures). The rate of recognizability of Gaidukevich S.V. after his participation in the presidential elections (years 2001 and 2006) according to the information of analytical centers was reaching 92%.

At the end of the year 2006 the Government of the Republic of Belarus Sergei Gaidukevich was proposed to lead the dialog with the countries of Europe and the European Union, Gaidukevich S.V. took the decision and agreed as the purposes of the party coincide with the proposal namely – movement forward towards democracy.

On December 14, Gaidukevich Sergei Vasilievich was appointed Special Representative of Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, having kept the post of the Chairman of the Liberal-Democratic party and Deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus.

At present according to the informational of analytical centers the rate of the leader of the Liberal-Democratic party, Special Representative of Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Gaidukevich Sergei Vasilievich is second to the rate of the acting President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko.

Married. Two children. Fond of music (graduated from the music school, class bayan), poetry (he writes the verses himself), literature, fishing, hunting.
